General History of ONGC Videsh
ONGC Videsh Ltd. is the international arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s largest national oil company. Established as Hydrocarbons India Pvt. Ltd. on 5th March 1965 and renamed ONGC Videsh on 15th June 1989, it spearheads India's energy exploration and production (E&P) activities abroad.
Operating in 19 countries across diverse geographies with 32 oil & gas assets, ONGC Videsh plays a strategic role in securing India’s energy future. The company currently produces around 202 kBOE per day, with cumulative reserves and resources of over 476 MMt of oil equivalent.

Block CPO-5 was awarded to ONGC Videsh Limited Sucursal Colombiana. E&P Cotract executed on 26th December 2008.

First 3D Seismic Data
Acquisition of 650 Skm 3D seismic in SE part of the block.

First Well Drilled
Drilling of well Kamal – 1.
2017
Mariposa Discovery
Drilling of well Mariposa – 1 (discovery well of Mariposa field), established the presence of commercial hydrocarbons in CPO-5 Block.
2018
Indico Discovery
Drilling of well Indico – 1X (discovery well of Indico field).
2023
Halcon Discovery
Discovery of Halcon Field, Drilling of Halcon – 1X and Perico – 1X.
